A Tribute to Khonen Ayalti (1910-1992)

Born in Belarus, Khonen Ayalti lived intensively the Jewish drama of his century. Pioneer in Palestine, student in Paris, press correspondent during the Spanish civil war, then a refugee in the "free zone" in France, he succeeds to escape to Uruguay in 1942 and then to settle in New York, in 1946. His novels mirror the diversity of his experiences in a world of wars and of social conflicts.
