Based on a novel by Yoysef Opatoshu.
The action takes place in 1904, in Mlawa, in a small town on the border between Poland occupied by Russia and Germany. The town lives from smuggling horses across the border. In 1905 breaks out the war between Russia and Japan. The horses are confiscated and other misfortunes follow.
